Harry Somaraju

orn and bred in India, Harry brings a wealth of diverse international managerial experience into the company.
A Science Graduate with a Diploma in Sales and Marketing Management to his name, he provides a unique blend of visionary thinking coupled with a real down-to-earth, "just do it" attitude.
At the peak of his career in India, Harry owned and managed a large pharmaceutical manufacturing and marketing company with more than 300 staff.
Now aged 52 and a citizen of New Zealand, he makes no secret of the fact that he is fast becoming more than a tad wary of what "retirement in New Zealand" will be like.
A baby-boomer in his own right, Harry points out to all who will listen, that "although you could never have too much money in retirement, you could certainly have too little!"
An avid property investor since arriving in New Zealand in 1997, he has spent almost all of this time working in the property industry.
For 8 years up until December 2005, he held the position of General Manager with North Shore based property company, Wealth Buy Property. Then in January 2006, Harry and his long-time colleague and friend, Mike Hackett, branched out and established Compass Property Investments Limited.
Why the big move?
Quote:
"At the end of the day, Mike and I saw an unique opportunity to offer property investors a rock-solid, long-term rental guarantee - not just the stock standard Housing New Zealand Home Lease option that everyone else offered, but an exclusive "Compass Private Lease" for high-end investment properties that fell outside HNZ's primary target areas".

Harry lives with his wife and daughter in Glenfield on Auckland's North Shore. His son is currently residing in Canberra, ACT, pursuing a Doctorate in Engineering. NB: Both his wife and daughter are software professionals.
To his credit, Harry is somewhat of a fitness freak: He works out in his home gym regularly, plays cricket and badminton, and enjoys walking.
Hobbies-wise... when he's not following cricket (which would account for around 10 minutes a year) he is either following tennis or reading a "damn good book " - usually about tennis or cricket!
